What is
Cub Scouting?

Scouting is FUN with a PURPOSE

Pack 474 is very fortunate to have strong leadership. All of our Leaders are BSA Leader trained and are committed to the Cub Scout Program.  They take their leadership roles very seriously and are dedicated to teaching the Cub Scouting principles of doing ones best and being helpful to others, while having fun and creating memories that will be etched in your child's mind forever.

You will not find a more rewarding and better character building program for your child, than the Cub Scout Program. One of Norman Rockwell's famous scouting pictures is titled:  "Manpower Begins with Boypower".   The Cub Scouts will help teach your son good morals, principles, character, self worth and respect for others.  All things, that will help him grow into a successful and well adjusted young man. Cub Scouting is a year-round family-oriented part of the BSA Program designed for boys who are in first through fifth grades (or are 7,8,9, and 10 years old).  Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the 10 purposes of Cub Scouting (Taken from the Cub Scout Handbook):

  • Character Development
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Good Citizenship
  • Sportsmanship and Fitness
  • Family Understanding
  • Respectful Relationships
  • Personal Achievement
  • Friendly Service
  • Fun and Adventure
  • Preparation for the Boy Scouts

The Cub Scouting Adventure is a team effort between the scout, his family, his Den Leaders, his Den and his Pack. All these people play a huge part in making the Cub Scouting Program a success.
